Bury FC Cheerleaders
Bury FC is privileged to have our very own squad of dedicated dancers who appear at Gigg Lane on weekend home games. The girls are aged from 12- 17 and come from all over the borough. They represent 8 schools and colleges between them and rehearse once a week at the New Kershaw Centre in Bury. They are coached by Liz Norris
Liz works for Bury Youth Service, as Bury East's Area youth worker . Part of this role includes promoting positive activities for young people to participate in. In August 2008 as part of Bury Youth Service summer programme, Liz took five girls to Manchester Sports City to take part tin the North West Street Games in Cheerleading. The girls were silver medallists and were asked to perform at Bury FC's Kick out Racism day. Due to the massive response, all parties involved thought it would be a great idea to have regular dancers at Gigg lane and so they team went in search of more dancers. Over a year on , and we have a squad who dance not only at Gigg Lane, but have danced all over, using their talent to help others. The squad has danced in various charity events and public festivals in their own time, promoting Bury FC and are excellent ambassadors for what a community club is all about. Last summer, they were lucky enough to be guests of Efe Sodje at Hillsborough, for the Sodje brothers and friends celebrity match for Boots of Africa appeal.
