The next generation of young leaders for Ramsbottom are created via JFO;
Friday Night Football
Bury FC Community Trust in conjunction with Bury Youth Service have been running coaching sessions at Woodhey Secondary School in Ramsbottom now for just short of three years.
The scheme was initiated to help combat anti social behaviour on a Friday night, the programme works with some of the most at risk young people in the area and encourages them to engage in a more positive activity in the evenings through organized football completion.
The project is very well attended with over 20 people attending most sessions. This week some of the participants have completed a Junior Football Organisers Award, and will follow in the footsteps of many other young people from the scheme who have comepleted this award in the past. This will the first step in creating the next generation of volunteer youth coaches to lead the session as mentors to the other young people.
Since the scheme has been running we have engaged with over 250 young people and from this number some participants have gone on to complete further coaching awards and some have even made it onto our very own coaching college.
All the sessions are very informal and friendly so if you or anyone you know would like to come and join in with football in Ramsbottom on a Friday night then just pop in; Woodhey High School in the Sports Hall 6pm.
