Millwood School

Bury FC Community Trust and Millwood School have a special partnership where Bury FC provide memebers of staff to deliver sporting activities in the school.

Millwood School is a Specialist Primary Secondary School. The school motto is "Millwood School where everyone matters"

In 2009 the school was inspected by OFSTED all areas were judged to be OUTSTANDING with the exception of attendance which was judged to be good.

All the pupils at the school have a statement of special educational need. Some have moderate or severe learning difficulties, some have complex and profound disabilities, and some have autism. In addition, some pupils have sensory impairments, epilepsy, ADHD and physical difficulties.

Millwood Schoolhas excellent facilities including:

•An enclosed adventure playground

•A sensory woodland trail

•An early years playground equipped with slide, climbing frame, wheelchair-accessible roundabout, swings

•A playground for ball games and cycling

•A small hydrotherapy pool

•A light and sensory room

•Two new medical rooms with disabled toilet

•A new speech and language therapy base

•A physiotherapy and occupational therapy base

•An ICT room

•A training/meetings room

•A food technology room

•A school hall

•A dining area

•Disabled access toilet in the reception area

•Wheelchair-accessible building

•A safe space

•A library with reading schemes and sensory stories

The club has held Player Visits, Penalty Shootout competitions and other events down at the school. The most recent development is first team player Efe Sodje has been appointed a governer at the school.

All at the club hope that this partnership can continue in the next academic year and we can continue the work with the school and head teacher Helen Chadwick.
